Robert Cro

St. Paul, Princeton

What is your name and age?
Robert J. Cro, age 40.

What is your home parish?
St. Paul’s in Princeton.  (I’m originally from New York, however, where my home parish was St. Patrick’s in Staten Island.)

What seminary do you attend and what year are you in the seminary?
I attend St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, MD.  Currently, I am in my second year of theology.

An interesting thing about my life is:
I love travel and lived abroad for over 6 six years.

Prior to the seminary I:
I taught English in Japan.

When I want to relax or have some fun I:
I enjoy travel, cooking, art, and spending time with friends.

The first time I thought about a priestly vocation was:
During my late teens, although I did not start to discern seriously until my early thirties.

How do you pray, what is your prayer life like?
I try to follow St. Paul’s advice and “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).  This means taking time throughout the day, if sometimes only a few minutes between classes, just to be with God.

What excites me about being a priest is:
Serving God and helping others develop stronger relationships with Him.

What do you enjoy about seminary life?
I enjoy the chance to live, study, and pray with so many other guys who have dedicated their lives to Christ and the Church.

If someone were considering a vocation to the priesthood I would tell them to:
Pray over it, and then talk to a priest.

A couple books on my shelf, CD’s I own or songs I have downloaded are:
Besides spiritual and historical works, I also enjoy reading mystery novels (especially those by P.C. Doherty).  My musical tastes are diverse, including everything from medieval polyphony to European techno.

A Scripture passage that inspires me is:
Fear not, for I have redeemed thee; I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine. (Isaiah 43:1b)
